Elaine has had a very trying day. Being pregnant, she's found, has its disadvantages. One of which is when one's gown has been let out to its limit and now more room is needed, and there is no more.

Another is when you lose your shoes, even when they're right where you took them off. It's hard to see when your belly is in the way.

And there were aches and pains in places she didn't know she had and many sleepless nights.

And of course, there's forgetting things. Rather often.

Which is why she's forgotten she has a pie in the oven. It will most likely become obvious fairly soon.

[ooc: mature content within the thread--they are married, after all.]

09:35 pm - A Picnic
Elaine was seated sidesaddle in front of Sparhawk as they rode into the forest. They had a picnic basket and Elaine had no idea where they were going, but it was certainly a lovely day to have a picnic together. She leaned her head against his chest as they rode together. It was very nice, being with him. She hadn't ridden with someone else since she was a small girl, but she was liking this very much. She sighed happily.

"Where are you taking me, my love?"

09:03 pm - At Home...
It had taken a little while to get settled into a routine. It felt to Elaine that for a little while, the suite was almost too small for two people, as she was unused (though delighted) to being in such close quarters with another person.

But now...she couldn't imagine how she'd existed without him nearby. It means the world to her that they are so close that she can find him at any time; not so very far away. She has only to reach out her hand to find him.

It's been helping the small pain she still feels when she thinks about Astolat and her family. So now, she is contentedly doing her mending on the sofa in the sitting room with a small smile on her face.

08:59 pm - One Last Letter...
Elaine sat at the desk in her dimmed room by the light of a single candle. She was dressed for bed and her hair was plaited over her shoulder in the loose braid she usually wore to sleep.

She was writing, rather serenely, her last letter to her father.

My dearest Da,

Forgive me, please for being unable to write to you before now. I know you must have been terribly worried. I was taken from you by some force of magic, and I do not think I shall be able to return to you. I am sorry, my Father. I miss you, and my brothers, so very much.

I have asked to communicate with you for I can bear you not knowing that I am safe any longer, and this shall be the only time I am able to converse, and you cannot reply to me. It pains me to know I shall never see you or my brothers again, but I have found love here, Da. I know that if you could meet him, you would love him, for he is the one you always wanted me to wait for. He is a Church Knight, Sparhawk by name, and he is splendid and he did save my life one day, and tended me while I healed. He is so very gentle and kind towards me, and he makes me feel safe in this strange place.

We are to be married soon, and I am so glad about that, I cannot tell you. Father, I wish you could be there, and I wish you could see me now. You'd be so happy, I know you would.

Please know I am safe and happy, even though I love and miss you more than ever. Tell my brothers that I am safe and that I love them, and tell Lavaine that I wish I could see him spar one more time. I miss being his squire. Tell Tierry that I hope he feels better soon and that I love him despite everything.

I love you, Da. From the bottom of my heart, I love you.

Your only daughter,

Elayne.

She sat back and sighed, then, and re-read it. It said everything she needed to say. And it was written. She left it on her desk and brought her candle over to the bed, got into bed and blew out the candle.

It was a long time before she slept, and then she did not remember her dreams.
